OpenWaterPilot
The Apple Watch keeps open-water swimmers on a straight line, with taps on the wrist.
in progressThe problem
Open water has no lane line. Without lifting your head all the time you swim arcs and cover more distance than you need to.
What it does
- One tap: go right, two taps: go left
- A corridor with thresholds at 15, 25 and 40 metres
- Silence rather than an uncertain correction
- Three modes: one way, return, open swim
Who it's for
Open-water swimmers with an Apple Watch and iPhone. An aid, not safety-critical navigation.
State
First version, being tuned in the water.
Tech
Swift for watchOS and iOS, HealthKit, CoreLocation; all data stays on the device.
